The 11th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 witnessed the third consecutive loss for Delhi Capitals (DC) as Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeated them by 57 runs to register their second win of the season in the three matches they played so far. With this loss, DC are now at the bottom of the points table.

Talking about the match, DC won the toss and invited RR to put runs on the scoreboard. RR young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal accepted the invitation wholeheartedly and launched into Khaleel Ahmed, hitting him for 5 fours in the very first over. He was to race away to a 25-ball half-century and when he was finally dismissed, the Royals were already racing along.

His dismissal and that of skipper Sanju Samson meant that the Capitals found a way back and they did keep the scoring under check. At 130 for 3 after 15 overs, the Royals seemed to have wasted a great start, but Jos Buttler and Shimron Hetmyer were in and they ensured that the final 5 overs did matter as they smashed 69 runs and fell short of 1 run to touch the 200-run mark. Mukesh Kumar was the best bowler for RR as he took 2 wickets, but the other bowlers went for too many runs.

Brilliant all-round performance by RR

Chasing the target, Trent Bould gave a horrible start to DC, dismissing two batters in the very first over of the second innings. Their impact player Prithvi Shaw failed to put any impact just like in the first two matches. Manish Pandey was included in the squad and he came to bat at no.3 but got out on a golden duck.

However, later, skipper David Warner and Lalit Yadav steadied the ship and stitched a 64-run stand for the 4th wicket. Yadav was playing with a good strike rate but was trapped by Boult. And his departure almost ended DC's hope to win the game. Warner made a half-century but was continuously struggling during the innings and his knock finally ended in the 19th over and so were the hopes for DC.
