Star batter, Virat Kohli smashed his sixth IPL ton as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) registered a convincing 8-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in match 65 of the season at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Batting first, SRH posted a total of 186 runs for the loss of 5 wickets, powered by the maiden IPL century by Heinrich Klaasen. In reply, RCB chased the winning total in 19.2 overs losing 2 wickets.

SRH didn’t had a dream start as they lost 2 wickets for just 28 runs in 4.3 overs. After that, skipper Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen put up a partnership of 82 runs for the third wicket. Markram got out after playing a steady knock of 18 runs off 20 balls. While, on the other hand, Klaasen took the innings further with his fiery innings. The 31-year-old completed his century on the third ball of the 19th over by smashing a six off Harshal Patel. He only took 49 balls to reach to his ton.

Klaasen got out after scoring 104 runs off 51 balls, hitting eight fours and six sixes after Harshal bowled him out on the fifth ball of the ninth over to give RCB a fourth breakthrough. Harry Brook added the finishing touches as he remained unbeaten on 27 runs off 19 balls with two fours and a maximum as SRH go past 180 runs. For RCB, Michael Bracewell took 2 wickets, while Mohammed Siraj, Harshal, and Shabaz Ahmed shared a wicket each.

Kohli - Du Plessis gave a flying start to RCB

Chasing the winning total, Virat Kohli and the skipper Faf du Plessis gave a flying start to RCB by smashing 64 runs in the powerplay. The star opening duo went on to put up an opening partnership of 172 runs in 17.5 overs. Kohli completed his hundred by smashing Bhuvneshwar Kumar for a six.

He got out after scoring 100 runs off 63 balls, hitting 12 fours and four sixes. In the next over, Du Plessis also lost his wicket after scoring 71 runs off 47 balls with seven fours and two sixes. But it wasn’t enough to stop RCB as they took the match far away from SRH.

Michael Bracewell scored the winning runs in the last over along with Glenn Maxwell, who was at the non striker's end as RCB finished the game with four balls to spare. For SRH, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T. Natarajan shared a wicket each. With this win, RCB jumped to the fourth position as they now have 7 wins in 13 matches with one game remaining.
