Team India is currently locking horns in the Asia Cup 2023, which is taking place in Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The first match of the campaign against Pakistan resulted in a draw as the match was called off due to rain after the completion of the first innings. India’s second fixture of the group stage is against Nepal on Monday, September 4, at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy, Sri Lanka.

Ahead of the Nepal fixture, star India bowler, Jasprit Bumrah has returned to Mumbai due to some personal reasons. However, he would be available for the Super 4 encounter against arch-rivals, Pakistan, which is scheduled to be played on Sunday, September 10, at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Mohammad Shami likely to replace Jasprit Bumrah

Bumrah is an integral part of India's squad as he is one of the best bowlers not only in India but all around the globe. He has been out of the game for a long period as he got injured back in September 2022. He recently made his comeback in the Ireland T20I series, where he led the Men in Blue side in the absence of senior players like Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya.

Bumrah played for Team India in their opening fixture but did not get a chance to bowl as the match was called off due to heavy rainfall after the completion of the first innings. However, he got a chance to bat against his rivals where he scored 16 runs off 14 balls, which included three fours in his innings.

In the absence of the right-arm seamer, Mohammad Shami will come into the squad who missed out in the first match. He will lead the Indian bowling line-up against Nepal and will bowl along with the likes of Mohammad Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja.
