Shubman Gill is at the peak of his form in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023. He has outperformed everyone and is currently the leading run-scorer in the tournament, with 851 runs in 16 matches with a brilliant average of 60.79.
He also has scored three centuries this season, the most recent of which came against Mumbai Indians in the 2nd Qualifier. With his knock of 129 runs in just 60 balls, he helped his team defeat the five-time champions and book a spot in the finals against Chennai Super Kings.
Notably, the 23-year-old has bagged 10 Player of the Match awards in the history of IPL, making him the youngest batter to achieve this milestone. The right-handed batter is quickly making a name for himself with his brilliance in the middle.
Gill would look to continue his excellent form in the final of the tournament against CSK as well. With his 851 runs this season, he also became the third-highest run-scorer in a single season. He is only behind Virat Kohli and Jos Buttler.

When asked about Gill's performance against MI, skipper Hardik Pandya praised the GT opener. "I think the clarity and confidence he is carrying is amazing. Today's innings was one of the finest, he never looked rushed. It felt like someone was throwing balls and he was hitting. He will be a superstar in international and franchise cricket," he said at the post-match presentation.
In the meantime, GT is prepared to defend its title against the Super Kings on Sunday in Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. They were defeated by CSK in the first Qualifier but bounced back with a great win against MI.
As for Gill becoming the youngest to 10 Player of the Match Awards, fans were left in awe of the star cricketer. "He is in peak of his career. His opening slot in Indian team on all the format is fixed for many more years now," a user wrote on Twitter.
