In the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) final at the Oval, India had a terrible day one as Australia scored 327 runs for three wickets in 85 overs. Steve Smith and Travis Head both stitched a brilliant partnership of more than 200 runs. Only three wickets were claimed by the Indian bowlers on the day.

It was expected that the Indian bowlers would take wickets in quick succession on Day 2 but that didn't happen. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma got into a humorous altercation with the umpire on the pitch, and a number of pictures and videos that cleverly avoided the Indian captain's DRS call quickly went viral. However, some supporters weren't pleased and criticised the captain on social media.

The incident happened in the match's 97th over. Alex Carey was caught on the crease by Mohammed Shami's final ball of the over. The umpire ignored their request for an LBW appeal. Then, Rohit was spotted heading towards a DRS, but at the very last second, he failed to complete the review signal and steered clear of it. However, officials and a few spectators were perplexed. However, India finally chose not to revisit that choice.

It will be difficult to bowl the entire day: Ravi Shastri

Earlier, the former Team India coach, Ravi Shastri was not happy with Rohit and his tactics on day one and said that Rohit wasn't good at using his bowlers. While speaking to Star Sports, he said,

“Once you had picked the team, it’s fine, Ashwin played or not, and that you fielded. But you could have been tactically much sounder after that. Siraj and Shami had to bowl their second spells in the first session. They gave too long spells to Shami and Siraj at the start. You know they have not played first-class cricket for three or four months and it will be difficult to bowl the entire day. The thinking should have been that this pitch will improve once the sun comes out, so they should have been preserved and used at the right time.”
