The 21st match of the Indian Premier League 2023 was played between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Saturday, April 16 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Fans witnessed another cracker of a game as PBKS registered their 3rd win of the season by defeating LSG by 2 wickets.

Talking about the match, PBKS stand-in captain Sam Curran won the toss and opted to bowl first. LSG skipper KL Rahul anchored the innings with a brilliant knock of 74 runs, but having batted half the overs, there'll be questions on his intent, not with Kyle Mayers though as he made the most of the powerplay. Deepak Hooda came to bat at no.3 and displayed another poor performance as he departed after scoring only 2 runs.

The innings did get stuck when Rahul and Krunal Pandya were out in the middle. Nicholas Pooran also failed this time and not much from Marcus Stoinis either. Curran was the best bowler for PBKS as he picked up three wickets while conceding only 31 runs, two for Kagiso Rabada and the others also chipped in.

Brilliant batting performance by Sikandar Raza

Chasing the target, Atharva Taide, who was playing his debut match, got out on a duck in the first over of the second innings. Prabhsimran Singh also departed after scoring only 4 runs. Later, Matthew Short and Harpreet Singh Bhatia steadied the innings but couldn't make a big partnership. But a fifty from Sikandar Raza turned it on for them at the right time.

Raza brought PBKS back into the game but got out after scoring a half-century. But then, Shahrukh Khan stepped up in the death overs to get them over the line. The way he started his little cameo, with a six on the first ball off Mark Wood, was a good indication that he was on tonight and finished the game for PBKS in the last over by smashing a four in the 3rd ball.
