In the final of the inaugural edition of Major League Cricket (MLC), MI New York and Seattle Orcas locked horns. While New York is owned by the Mumbai Indians franchise in the IPL, Orcas is owned by Delhi Capitals in the IPL. Meanwhile, in the game, MI won the toss and elected to bowl first. The Blue Brigade bowlers did well even though they didn't pick many wickets in the first few overs.

However, despite Quinton de Kock doing well, the team took three wickets for 91 runs at one stage. At this point, De Kock and Shubham Ranjane (29 off 16) put together 51 runs. After this partnership was broken, Dwayne Pretorious (21* off seven) and De Kock (87) helped the team reach 183/9 at the end of the innings.

For the MI, the likes of Trent Boult and Rashid Khan took three wickets each. On the other hand, David Wiese and Steven Taylor took one wicket each.

In reply, the New York-based team had a poor start as out-of-form Steven Taylor lost his wicket to Imad Wasim. Skipper Nicholas Pooran promoted himself to the batting order. He went on to hit a 16-ball 50 and converted it into a 40-ball hundred. This is the fastest hundred in the finals of the T20 league's history.

In the end, he went on to get 137 not out of 184 runs required for the team to win. The likes of Dewald Brewis and Tim David played second fiddle and saw their skipper taking the team over the line with four overs to go and seven wickets in hand. After the game, MI coach, Kieron Pollard video chatted with Dwayne Bravo from the Texas Super Kings. Notably, both players coach the parent franchise of the US teams (Bravo is the bowling coach of Texas and Chennai Super Kings and Pollard is the batting coach of Mumbai Indians and MI New York).

Meanwhile, during the chat, Pollard teased Bravo about having same number of trophies as Bravo:
