Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj has been rested for the upcoming ODI series against West Indies. Siraj played in both Tests of the series against West Indies and also clinched a five-for in the second Test in Trinidad, which earned him the first man of the match. The pacer has flown back to India.
According to the reports, the decision on Siraj's replacement has yet to be made. With the first ODI planned for Thursday, India currently has a pace attack comprised of Jaydev Unadkat, Umran Malik, Shardul Thakur, and Mukesh Kumar.
Mohammed Siraj emerged as a leader
In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami, the pacer has set an example for the young bowling attack against the Windies. Siraj's recent form may have come as a relief to Indian selectors ahead of the ODI World Cup. The Hyderabad bowler has also performed admirably in white-ball cricket for the national squad and in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The Hyderabad pacer picked up seven wickets in the two Tests, including a five-for in the first innings on a flat Port-of-Spain track to trigger a batting collapse for West Indies restricting them to 255. His last ODI series was against Australia at home in March 2022. He finished the series with five wickets, the most for India and second most in the series. Since the start of 2022, Siraj's 43 wickets are the most by an Indian bowler in ODIs.
India will also play a three-match bilateral series against Australia following the Asia Cup, which will further serve as crucial to preparations for the marquee home World Cup. The ODI squad will play all of its games in Sri Lanka during the Asia Cup, which begins on August 30.
The competition will be essential in India's preparations for the ODI World Cup in October-November, and Siraj's fitness is critical as an integral component of the white-ball setup. The Indian Cricket Board confirmed last week that Bumrah is recovering health and will participate in practice matches at the National Cricket Academy (NCA Bengaluru), his return timing remains unknown.

And moreover it was him who dominated in 2nd test
He is the lead pacer of team
Moreover one should really think
With Westindies any body. Could be rested
He is been continuously playing through the year
Just a silly excuse to not let him play because he comes from a Samuday Vishesh. Thank You Jay shah for showing your true colours🫡
