Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are set to face Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 26th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Wednesday, April 19. LSG lost their last match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in a close encounter and are in the no.2 spot in the points table.
LSG skipper KL Rahul is currently suffering from his poor form in IPL as well. Although, he smashed a fifty in the last match but it came at a very low pace and many questions are being raised about his strike rate. Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag believes that Rahul has got his form back and will be in high confidence after his brilliant knock of 74 runs against PBKS.
"KL Rahul is back in form. He scored runs in the previous match. Yes, his strike rate may not have met people's expectations, but his form is a great sign. Rajasthan doesn't have any other fast bowler apart from Trent Boult who has express pace or is very dangerous. They do have dangerous spinners, but if KL Rahul bats for long, he will surely take them apart.”
He has performed well in ODIs, both as an opener and in the middle order: Virender Sehwag
RR are on a three-match winning streak and now sitting atop in the points table. On Wednesday, they will meet a side they beat twice last year, however, it'd be interesting to see if they continue their winning run on LSG. Meanwhile, Sehwag further added that Rahul has better records in international cricket than RR skipper Sanju Samson. Sehwag showered praise on the 31-year-old batter and said that he has performed really great in red-ball cricket.
"If you talk about establishing yourself in the Indian team, I believe KL Rahul is far better than Sanju Samson. He has played Test matches and scored hundreds in many countries. He has performed well in ODIs, both as an opener and in the middle order, and has also scored runs in T20 cricket."
