India middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer has not travelled with Team India to R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. India will face Sri Lanka on Tuesday for their second match of the Super 4 of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. He had missed cricketing action for the last few months due to a bulging slipped disc and the follow-up surgery.

The Indian Cricket Board confirmed that he will not be available for selection today. There is no confirmation on the status of his injury. It is likely to be a precautionary measure that the side is taking keeping the ODI World Cup in mind. Shreyas Iyer stays in the hotel without travelling with them.

Shreyas Iyer is feeling better but is yet to fully recover from back spasm: Indian Cricket Board

The update said that the batter was feeling better, he hadn't fully recovered from the back spasms. He has been advised a rest by the medical team. Therefore, the batter would miss India's second Super Four encounter in the Asia Cup as well.

The Indian Cricket Board tweeted, "Shreyas Iyer is feeling better but is yet to fully recover from a back spasm. He has been adviced to rest by the Indian Cricket Board Medical Team and has not travelled with the team to the stadium today for India's Super 4 match against Sri Lanka."

India reached a mammoth 356/2, their joint-highest score against Pakistan in ODIs. With Virat Kohli and KL Rahul scoring centuries. In response, Pakistan were nowhere in the game as only three of their batters managed to go past 20+ runs. India’s fast bowlers were impeccable in their line and length while putting out a surreal exhibition of seam and swing bowling.

Kuldeep then came to rattle the batters and pick 5/25, his second fifer in ODIs, as Pakistan were restricted to just 128, with 228 runs being the highest margin of win for India against Pakistan in terms of runs. India will look to continue their winning streak and break Sri Lanka's 13-match unbeaten record.

It is a simple equation for both teams to win this match and become the first team to qualify for the finals of the Asia Cup.
