The 16th season of the Indian Premier League had two games on Saturday, May 6. The highly anticipated second El Clasico of the IPL 2023 was the day's first game that saw the Chennai Super Kings complete the league double over Mumbai Indians with a six-wicket win at the Chepauk. The local lad, Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore, visited the Delhi Capitals in the second game of the day, another classic in the rivalry week of IPL 2023.

The Royal Challengers won the toss and elected to bat first. Star batter Virat Kohli stole the show achieving two important milestones in the game. First, he became the first-ever player to get past 7000 IPL runs. Secondly, he scored his 50th IPL fifty, smashing 55 off 46 balls. Skipper Faf du Plessis (45 off 32) and Mahipal Lomror (54 off 29) were the other key competitors as RCB closed out at 181/4 inside 20 overs.

Phil Salt remained the star for DC with 87 off 45

For Delhi Capitals, allrounder Mitchell Marsh remained the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/21 from three overs. At the same time, Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar returned with one wicket apiece. The Capitals began their run-chase well, as the opening partnership between David Warner and Phil Salt yielded them 60 runs in 5.1 overs before Warner was dismissed for 22 off 14 balls.

Mitchell Marsh added another 26 off 17, while Karn Sharma finally dismissed Phil Salt after a score of 87 off 45. Ultimately, with 35 off 22, Riley Rossouw took DC beyond the finish line with 7 wickets in hand and 20 balls to spare. For RCB, Karn Sharma, Hashal Patel and Josh Hazlewood returned with one wicket apiece.

The spectators will thereafter be treated to another doubleheader in the sixteenth season of the IPL. The Lucknow Super Giants, who just lost their skipper KL Rahul to a knee injury, will be playing the Gujarat Titans, the defending champions, in the first match. At the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, the Rajasthan Royals will play host to the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the second match.
