India batter Suryakumar Yadav has turned up for West Zone in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2023. In the tournament, he played two games and amassed 67 runs only. This includes the highest score of 52 runs. As Yadav plays for Mumbai in First Class cricket, he is representing West Zone in the ongoing final against South Zone. Batting first, the SOZ were bowled out for 213 runs.

However, their bowlers have pulled off a fightback and have taken seven wickets for 129 runs at the time of writing. Meanwhile, Yadav, who is playing for WEZ, started his innings in the ongoing day two with a six. He plays like this in T20 cricket for India and Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Notably, he could have been out the first ball if not for Vijaykumar Vyshak dropping the catch.

Despite this, the right-hander got out only after scoring eight runs off six balls.

Sky is not a test or odi player….. I told many times… He is only made for t20s which give fast playing and innovative shots…. Big no for him for further selection in odis and tests…..

Suryakumar Yadav will play white-ball series against West Indies

The former Kolkata Knight Riders player last played a competitive game in the IPL 2023. Since then, the ongoing Duleep trophy is the only competitive game he has played so far. The Mumbaikar wasn’t part of the WTC Final team. With him having to play in the white-ball of India’s tour to West Indies, Yadav is looking to keep himself in touch. Not to forget, he is the vice-captain to Hardik Pandya in the T20I series.

India ODI Squad against West Indies: Rohit Sharma (capt), Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju Samson (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Hardik Pandya (vice-capt), Shardul Thakur, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat, Mohammed Siraj, Umran Malik, Mukesh Kumar.
