India’s young sensation and 21-year-old batter Yashasvi Jaiswal did wonders in Irani Cup 2023. Jaiswal smashed a double century in the first innings and scored a century in the second innings while playing for the Rest of India which made him the first batter to achieve this feat in the same match in the history of the Irani Trophy.

India’s destructive opener Shikhar Dhawan scored centuries in both innings in the Irani Cup match earlier, but legends like Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar have not been able to maintain such a record. It has never happened before when someone scored a double century in one inning and a century in the second. The young left-hander became the first batter to achieve such a feat in the history of 61 years.

Talking about the match, Madhya Pradesh started Day 3 in the morning at 112 for three, in which Yash Dubey converted his unbeaten 53 in a century, and Harsh Gawli's 47 in a half-century. Navdeep Saini, who took two wickets on the second day, ended the innings of Gawli (54 runs). Saini, who returned from a back injury, took three wickets for 56 runs in 20 overs.

Now the number of his centuries has increased to 9. This includes 3 double centuries. He is also hoping for a spot in the national Indian team squad. It’d be interesting to see how long the selection committee will make him wait.
