Ahead of iconic India vs. Pakistan clash in the upcoming ODI World Cup, fans are trying to book hotels and tickets. However, the match tickets are yet to be released, while hotel and train tickets are already overbooked. Meanwhile, some fans are trying to find solutions for the soaring prices of hotel rooms.
To counter it, some fans are trying to book hospital beds during the game. Hospital officials have observed an increase in queries from fans looking for a one-night or two-night stay at their facilities. The package is both lucrative and more reasonable for fans. The gift, which usually includes food, allows the 'patient' to remain with one additional person.
"Since it’s a hospital, they are asking for a full-body check-up and an overnight stay so both of their purposes are fulfilled, saving money on lodging and getting their health check done," says Dr Paras Shah, as quoted by various media platforms.
"This is due to the upcoming World Cup", says the hospital
The medical director of a hospital in Ahmedabad says that this comes after the World Cup schedule was announced by the Indian Cricket Board. "We too are getting inquiries for 24-48-hour stays in our hospital, particularly around October 15, as we also have a full-body check-up package. This is due to the upcoming World Cup India-Pakistan match that is scheduled for October 15. Like at our hospitals, the situation seems the same in other city hospitals too. So, we are thinking about coming out with other health packages," the hospital's medical director, Dr Nikhil Lala, said.
Notably, India is set to face Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 15. However, their campaign will start against Australia in Chennai on October 8. It will be followed by facing Afghanistan in Delhi on October 11. Notably, after the Pakistan clash, the team will move to Dharamshala to take on New Zealand and to Kolkata to face South Africa.
