The second Test match between India and West Indies was a very thrilling one, it ended as a dampener as rain had the final say. India won the Test series 1-0. Now the teams will shift focus to the limited-overs leg of the tour. The three-match ODI series will come first. It will kick off on July 27. India will want to look at all facets of their ODI lineup ahead of the 2023 World Cup.

For the West Indies, they would want to salvage some pride after crashing out of the World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe. The squad for the Men in Maroon for the Three ODIs against India has been announced. While Shimron Hetmyer makes a comeback to the ODI side, the same goes for fast-bowler Oshane Thomas. Hetmyer had last played an ODI game for the West Indies in 2021.

The West Indies batting lineup looks very powerful with the likes of Brandon King, Kyle Mayers, Shai Hope and Hetmyer in the side. Alick Athanaze also gets a look-in into the ODI setup. When it comes to the bowling Alzarri Joseph and Thomas will look to knock India with a few early wickets. Jason Holder and Nicholas Pooran will not be a part of this series.

Pooran is plying his trade in Major League Cricket (MLC) in the USA.  “We welcome Oshane and Shimron back into the group. Both have played at the international level before, with some success, and we believe they will fit well into the set-up," said Cricket West Indies (CWI) chief selector Desmond Haynes in a statement.

“Oshane brings pace and is a potential wicket-taker with the new ball. Shimron’s style of batting will offer a lot, especially in the middle stage of the innings and he is also a potential ‘finisher’,"Haynes added. When it comes to spin options for the West Indies, Gudakesh Montie and Yannic Cariah will share duties. Two ODI's will be played in Barbados and the last one will be played in Trinidad.
