The valentine's post of ace Sri Lankan umpire Kumar Dharmasena went viral on social media and left netizens in a splits. On Tuesday, the veteran umpire Dharmasena posted two selfies with former India captain Sourav Ganguly and ex-PCB chairman Ramiz Raja and wished them ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’. The post soon went viral as netizens found the caption funny and irrelevant to the pictures. 

The pictures are believed to be from the MCC Cricket Committee meeting for which all three have reached Dubai. Hours before this post, Dharmasena posted a picture featuring all six members of the committee. The six-member Committee includes former India captain Sourav Ganguly, ex-PCB chief Ramiz Raza, and former Australia coach Justin Langer.

Although it is not the first time when Dharmasena triggered a storm on social media because of his interactions on Facebook. Dharmasena is known to be a regular user of social media and often posts pictures from both on- and off-field moments. 

Kumar Dharmasena is one of the most popular umpires 

The former Sri Lankan all-rounder Kumar Dharmasena is one of the most reputed umpires in the world. He has officiated some very important games in recent years including the finals of 2019, 50-over World Cup, and 2022, 20-20 World Cup. Although, he has been a reserve umpire for the 2021, 20-20 World Cup. Dharmasena holds the unique feat of being the only person who has both played and umpired in a Cricket World Cup final.

In his playing days, Dharmasena was an all-rounder and an integral part of the Lankan team. The 51-year-old Sri Lankan has played a total of 31 Test matches and 141 ODI matches. In these games, he clinched 207 wickets and smashed 2090 runs for the Lankan team. He was part of the Sri Lankan team that defeated Australia in the 1996 Cricket World Cup final in Lahore.
