UP beat Gujarat by three wickets at DY Patil Stadium to start their Women's T20 league campaign on a positive note

In their first outing of the tournament, UP won their first game of the Women's T20 League against Gujarat by three wickets. After winning the Toss Gujarat decided to bat first, Giants slumped to 76 for 4 around the halfway mark. But Harleen Deol continued to bat confidently as she guided the team to a fighting total. Harleen scored 46 runs off 32 balls.

On the other hand, Left-arm England spinner Sophie Ecclestone was the most successful bowler for the UP. She clinched 2 wickets by giving 25 runs while top Indian bowler Deepti Sharma too claimed two wickets to restrict Gujarat Giants to a chasable total.

In the thrilling encounter at the DY Patil stadium Gujarat failed to capitalize on crucial moments and lost the game. UP scored 175 runs for seven wickets and won the match by a spare of a ball.

Kim Garth's Five-for got wasted

Chasing 170 was never easy for team UP as they lost three wickets in the first three overs and were restricted to 20 for 3. Captain Alyssa Healy, Shweta Sehrawat, and Tahila McGrath were dismissed by Kim Garth for 7,5 and 0 respectively. Although, Garce Harris along with allrounder Deepti Sharma added 66 runs for the fourth wicket and made the game for the team UP. Harris in her Magestic innings scored 59 runs off 26 balls with the help of seven 4s and three 6s.

Grath has been phenomenal with the ball and took the second five-for of the day. She took five wickets for 36 runs in four overs but eventually didn't get any support from other bowlers. This is Gujarat's second defeat in as many games.

Earlier on the Day Delhi beat Bangalore in the second game of the tournament by 60 runs. While batting first Delhi posted a mammoth total of 243/2 in 20 overs. Captain Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma added 162 runs for the first wicket and set the victory tone for Delhi.

Meanwhile, Twitter reacts to Gujarat's second consecutive defeat. A Twitter user said, "Inka to wickets bhi Adani ke stocks jaisa gir raha."
