In the most recent World Test Championship (WTC) final versus Australia at the Oval, Virat Kohli fell short of the expectations of his supporters. He participated in this match after playing well for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) during the IPL 2023 season. At a strike rate of 139.82 and an average of 53.25, Kohli amassed 639 runs in 14 games in IPL 2023.  He registered two centuries and six fifties in the process.

But after earning a chance in both innings in the WTC Final, Kohli was unable to turn them into significant scores. India's upcoming tour will take them to the West Indies, where they will compete in two tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is. Kohli released a video of his tough workout on Twitter just before he is anticipated to be seen in action.

Virat Kohli would be eyeing a personal milestone on the next tour

During the Windies tour, Kohli will be aiming for a personal achievement. He has so far amassed 822 runs versus West Indies in 14 Tests. To become just the 11th Indian cricketer to amass 1000 or more runs against them, he still needs to score 188 runs.

With 2749 runs achieved in 27 games, batting icon Sunil Gavaskar holds the record for the most runs in India vs. West Indies Test history. Clive Lloyd, who has scored 2344 runs in 28 Test matches, is in second place. In the IPL 2023, Kohli was successful, scoring back-to-back hundreds. His 14 innings at an average of 53.25 and a respectable strikeout rate of 139.82 resulted in 639 runs.

With the ODI World Cup only a few months away, he would want to keep up the fine job. In the course of his professional career, Kohli has won three major championships: the U19 World Cup in 2008, in which he also served as captain; the ODI World Cup in 2011; and the Champions Trophy in 2013. However, since that win, India are on the hunt for a major trophy but the so-called Golden Generation hasn’t been able to deliver.
