The Montreal Tigers (MT) won the 2023 Global T20 Canada competition after a stunning five-wicket win against the Surrey Jaguars (SJ) in the final. The match was watched by a large audience of excited supporters at the TD Cricket Arena in Brampton, Ontario. The event, which featured six teams, was made up of 25 matches played over the course of 17 days in Brampton.
Montreal's victory was crucial for the squad since it was their first championship. The Vancouver Knights won the event in 2018, while the Winnipeg Hawks won it in 2019. West Indies batter Andre Russell helped his team to win the final after hitting the match-winning six on the last ball.

The SJ were headed by Jatinder Singh, who scored a match-high 56 runs off 57 balls. Despite his efforts, the Jaguars were unable to hold on to their total of 130 runs. The Tigers took advantage of the Jaguars' blunders, allowing three wides and a leg before wicket.
Andre Russell was instrumental in their victory, producing late-game heroics in the final over. The Tigers needed 13 runs off the final six deliveries to reach their target of 131 runs. Russell, the Jamaican star, rose to the situation and hammered a match-winning six on the final ball, giving his side victory. His 20-run inning was crucial to the Tigers' victory.
Sherfane Rutherford was also instrumental in Montreal's triumph. He showed off his abilities when it counted the most, hitting boundaries and sixes to add key runs to the team total. Rutherford had earlier shown his exploits in the semi-final match against the Vancouver Knights, hitting three consecutive sixes to win Montreal's position in the final.
Skipper Chris Lynn of Australia expressed his delight at the team’s performance and emphasized their commitment to entertaining the fans, "I hope everyone in Canada was watching that because that’s what we’re about, that’s why we’re here, to entertain and put on a show." He further stated, "That’s why they’re here; they’re big-game players." Skipper Chris Lynn was the highest run-scorer in the tournament scoring 234 runs in just 9 innings. The highest wicket-taker for the tournament was Surrey Jaguar’s picking up 15 wickets in 8 innings.
