India beat Nepal by ten wickets in a rain-affected match at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Sri Lanka. India came into this match with one point as their match against arch-rivals Pakistan was washed out due to heavy rain at Pallekele Cricket Stadium in Kandy.
Their batting was tested against their arch-rivals as team India's top order failed in that match. India needed to win this match in order to qualify for the Super 4s. India was been asked to chase 145 in 23 overs after the match was halted for almost two hours due to rain in Pallekele.
Openers stand tall for India
The Men in Blue won the toss and elected to field first in the overcast conditions. They did not get off to the start they needed as they dropped three catches in the first four overs. The pacers never looked in rhythm as the Nepal openers Kushal Bhurtel scored 38 runs off 25 balls hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes with a strike rate of 152.00 before eventually being dismissed by Shardul Thakur. Then his partner Aasif Sheikh scored 58 runs off 97 balls.
India's spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav got turn and bounce on a dry Pallekele pitch, which had already been used for the Pakistan-India clash, to restrict Nepal to 230 runs. With Jadeja and Siraj picking up three wickets respectively.
In reply, India got off to a good start as captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill as they were 17/0 in 2.1 overs before rain interrupted the proceedings. When the rain stopped India had to chase 145 runs in 23 overs as per the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern (DLS) method. In the beginning Karan Khatri caused some problems for the team India captain. But after the break, both the openers played aggressively and attacked their bowlers and hit them all around the park.
Rohit scored 74 runs off 59 balls hitting six fours and five sixes, played at a strike rate of 125.42. His partner Gill scored 67 runs off 62 balls hitting 8 fours and one six, with a strike rate of 108.06 and sealed India home of ten wickets victory with 19 balls remaining which will give them a lot of confidence in the batters before eventually facing Pakistan again in the Super 4s on September 10.

It's a victory not any achievement. Winning against Nepal is good. But want to see winning against best bowling attack Pakistan. Want to see bashing Shaheen Shah afridi, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf.
