He is the second-highest runs for a wicket-keeper after Sangakkara in 20 innings at an average of 69. The 42-year-old has scored a hundred and 3 fifties during his captaincy tenure.

'Mahi' has scored 327 runs in five innings in the 2008 edition of the tournament. Dhoni’s tally included two fifties and a century that year in the Asia Cup. He is also the player who has captained the most Asia Cup matches. His best performance came against Hong Kong wherein he smashed a fantastic century and ended with 109 unbeaten as India won the match by 256 runs. The former India skipper has a win rate of over 60%. The Ranchi-born batter won 9 out of 14 matches.

Dhoni was also a part of the team that won the 2018 Asia Cup (ODI), but he was not the captain. Rohit Sharma led the side, while Dhoni's contribution as wicketkeeper batter was invaluable. India is set to face their arch-rivals in their first match on September 2.
