On Sunday, India lost against West Indies in the fifth T20I at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground. Following their defeat they lost the series 3-2. This was also the first T20 series loss under Hardik Pandya’s captaincy.

This is WI's first T20I series win against India since 2017. Pandya's choice to bat first on a slow track backfired, as India compiled a below-par total in the 20-over game. The batting catastrophe class of the Indian batters opened the way for West Indies to deny India's effort for a come-from-behind series win.

Winning and losing is a part of the process: Hardik Pandya

Pandya said, "If you see, we lost that period post 10 overs. Since when I came, I wasn't able to capitalise and I took my time and could not finish." "I believe that as a group we have to challenge ourselves. All these games are the games where we have to learn. We have spoken as a group that whenever we can take the hard way we will. In hindsight, one series here or there doesn't matter but the commitment to the goal is important.”

The all-rounder added, "It's a long way. We have the ODI World Cup coming up. And sometimes losing is good. You get to learn a lot. And a special mention for all the boys. They showed great character. Winning and losing is a part of the process and we are going to make sure we learn from that."

Suryakumar Yadav smashed a magnificent half-century to lead India's comeback against West Indies in the series finale, while Tilak Varma hit 27 off 18 balls. His quick-fire 61 runs off 45 balls propelled India to a 20-over total of 165/9.

In response, Brandon King hit a match-winning 85 as West Indies defeated India by 8 wickets in the 5th T20I. The West Indies reached their goal with two overs to spare thanks to King's magnificent unbeaten 85 and Pooran's outstanding 47. Pooran got the Player of the Series award for scoring 176 runs in five matches with the best score of 67 and a strike rate of almost 142.
