Ravichandran Ashwin has been picked in the 15-man squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup. Ashwin was called up in the recently concluded three-match ODI series against Australia. He bowled brilliantly in the first two ODIs against the Men in Yellow. The off-spinner picked up three wickets in the 2nd ODI as well.

Ashwin replaced the injured all-rounder Axar Patel who did not recover from the left quadriceps strain, he sustained during the Asia Cup Super 4 match against Bangladesh. Ashwin became the highest wicket-taker against the Aussies in ODIs, as he picked 144 wickets and broke the long-held record of Anil Kumble.

Ahead of the marquee event, former India spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan expressed his concern over the spinner's action. highlighted how Ashwin's action lacks rhythm while bowling. He also shared a picture to justify his point, clearly. After his tweet, he was criticised by a lot of people on social media. Then the former India spinner took to social media to reveal that Ashwin himself gave him a call to talk about the 'technical flaw'.

Ravi Ashwin was nice enough to call me just a while ago to discuss his bowling action: Laxman Sivaramakrishnan

In his first post Sivaramakrishnan said, "This picture has gone viral on SM. Enlarge the image and you notice his non bowling arm and upper body has opened up towards the offside. If you look at his lower body is closed. This leads to lack of synchronization. Ash quickly needs to correct this to be more effective."

Clarifying his point, "Ravi Ashwin was nice enough to call me just a while ago to discuss his bowling action, he was as shocked with the venom of the trolls as I was. Also clarified that the people involved are in NO WAY connected to him. GOOD LUCK @ashwinravi99. Do us proud."

He further stated, "Congratulations to R Ashwin for making himself a place in the World Cup squad with sheer impressive qualities that he possesses and has displayed in the recent past. His job is to take wickets and not look to contain, if he can average a couple of wickets each game he would have done a great job. Good luck."
