The Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Chennai Super Kings game in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023 was a high scoring one. In the game, the home team, Bangalore won the toss and elected to bowl first. After picking the wicket of Ruturaj Gaikwad in the third over, nothing went right for the Red Army. The likes of Ajinkya Rahane and Devon Conway punished the opposition bowlers with a partnership of 74 runs.

After this, Shivam Dube and Conway continued the good work and added another 80 runs. Despite the Yellow Army losing a few wickets in the end, they reached a competitive, 226/6 at the end of the innings. In reply, RCB lost two wickets for 15 runs in two overs. At this stage, the likes of skipper Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell smashed the fifties each.

However, they failed to chase down the target as they lost six wickets in the last eight overs. They ended up losing the game by eight runs despite being in a winning situation at one stage.

A total of 444 runs were scored during the game from both teams. This is the sixth-highest score combined by two teams in the history of the league and the highest at this venue this season. Previously, 425 runs were scored between RCB and Lucknow Super Giants on April 10.

On the other hand, this is the third-highest total in the history of the tournament. 13 years ago, they amassed 246/5 against Rajasthan Royals. Also, with them getting 226/6, this was their highest score against RCB across all seasons. In reply, RCB scoring 218 runs is also their highest score against CSK.

Apart from this, the Yellow Brigade hitting 17 sixes is their joint-highest in an inning. They did it three times previously, out of which twice came against RCB in 2018 and 2022.

33 maximums were hit in the game yesterday, the joint highest in an IPL game. Twice before 33 sixes have been hit in a match in the IPL. RCB vs CSK in 2018 in Bengaluru, and RR vs CSK in 2020 in Sharjah.
