The 21-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal produced a stellar start in Test cricket on Day 2 of the first match against the West Indies in Dominica, reaching fifty runs on his debut. In the early morning session at Windsor Park in Roseau, the left-handed batter Yashasvi accomplished his fifty-run mark with a stunning pull shot. The Uttar Pradesh-born cricketer showcased excellent technique, a variety of strokes, and a keen eye for shot selection.

Notably, Shubman Gill shifted down to the No. 3 position to take over Cheteshwar Pujara's previous position, whereas Jaiswal commenced the batting with skipper Rohit Sharma. After bundling out the Caribbean for just 150 runs on day 1, India was 103 for with no losses as he obtained his fifty. Behind Prithvi Shaw, Jaiswal has become the second-youngest Indian to rack up a fifty on his Test debut. Shaw made the milestone in 2018, also against the West Indies, at the age of 18, placing Jaiswal in the second spot.

After January 2022, the top-order drought gets over

The 100-run partnership between Jaiswal and Rohit had been further strengthened by his 50-run outing. As unusual as it may sound, the pair of KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal's 117-run stand in January 2022 was the very last occasion when an Indian opening pair produced a partnership of 100 runs. India has taken part in 13 Tests between that time and this moment, highlighting specifically just how long the top-order drought has endured.

The whole dressing room got to stand up to applaud the youngster once he reached 50. After being embraced by Ravindra Jadeja and Virat Kohli, coach Rahul Dravid gave him a standing ovation. Jaiswal received accolades for his outstanding knock from even captain Rohit Sharma, who seemed impressed while batting alongside him.

Check out here how his fans reacted as the 21-year-old left-handed batter crossed fifty runs on Day 2 against the West Indies.
