The much-awaited WTC 2021-23 final clash between India and Australia is not too far away as the contest will take between June 7 and 11 at the Oval in London. There will also be a reserve day if the match gets interrupted by rain and if the match ends in a draw then both teams will have to share the trophy. This is the second edition of the Championship and the Men in Blue have qualified in the final for the second consecutive time, however, in the last final, they had to face defeat against New Zealand.

Both teams have started preparations for the final but they also had to suffer huge blows as some of the key players from both teams are injured and ruled out of the final. Meanwhile, former India head coach Ravi Shastri believes if Jasprit Bumrah was available for India then India’s pace attack would’ve been similar to Australia’s fast bowling lineup.

“Look at the pace attack. Which side has the better attack? If Bumrah was here, then I would say equal, with Shami, Bumrah, and Siraj. But now when you look at that Australian attack - Cummins and Starc, though Hazlewood is gone,” Shastri was quoted as saying by The Print.

You need characters to make people watch the game: Ravi Shastri

Shastri further talked about the roles and responsibilities, a team need to win a match. He said that a team needs those characters who make people watch the game. He also gave an example when he was in England in 1981 where Ian Botham single-handedly changed the game in Ashes.

“Absolutely, you need characters, you need personalities. It is not about runs, wickets, and averages. You need characters to make people watch the game. I remember coming here in 1981, England was playing its worst cricket, but Ian Botham single-handedly turned the Ashes on its head. It gave a much-needed injection to Test cricket and English cricket. He put a lot of people on the seats,” said Shastri.
