India will be getting to host the mega event for the fourth time in its history as the ODI World Cup 2023 approaches in less than two months. The 'Men in Blue' will be under intense pressure to win the cup and end their 10-year trophy drought because it is a home world cup. Despite the fact that many of the squad's regular players are injured, the management of the team has not yet decided on their lineup for the championship match.

Prior to the cricket extravaganza, legendary Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh also emphasized India's middle-order issues and warned that if they are not corrected, the squad will suffer again under pressure. Notably, India's middle order has repeatedly failed to save their team in knockout games over the previous ten years, which is the main cause of India's ten-year trophy drought.

“I can be a patriot and say 'India will win because I am an Indian.' But I see a lot of concerns in the Indian middle order because of injuries. If those concerns are not resolved, we will struggle, especially in pressure games. Don't experiment in pressure games. The skill work to bat in the middle order is very different from that of an opener. Is there anybody there (in the team management) who is working around the guys that will be playing in the middle order?" Yuvraj said on the Cricket Basu YouTube channel.

The suspense around probable player continue to remain

It also has to be considered that India's reliance on their star-studded top order of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli is excessive. Recently, during the first One-Day International (ODI) against the West Indies in Barbados, the duo decided not to bat despite the fact that victory was only 115 runs away. However, the strategy backfired as India lost five wickets in an apparently easy chase, forcing Rohit to come out to bat to finish things off.

The injury woes have continued to haunt the Indian team as the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul still remain uncertain for the marquee event. Although, the India speedster, Bumrah is expected to return for the upcoming Ireland series which is scheduled to take place later this month.

But the likes of KL Rahul and Iyer are still suspicious to make any sort of comeback as the daily recovery update for both the batters keeps on changing everyday basis. Both star Indian batters are currently going through rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore.
