'MAKING MOVES!' - Twitter hails India as the beat Bangladesh to move to second place in Test Championship standings

India emerged at the top as they won the game against Bangladesh by 188 runs in the first session on the final day.

The first Test match between India and Bangladesh at the  Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram saw some ups and downs throughout the five days. However, India emerged at the top as they won the game by 188 runs in the first session on the final day.

However, the top-order batters did not have a good start, as India lost all three wickets for 48 runs. KL Rahul hit 22 runs off 54 balls, while Gill hit 20 off 40 balls. Virat Kohli also fell short, scoring one run off five balls. Cheteshwar Pujara then scored 90 runs off 203 balls. Along with him, Rishabh Pant hit 46 off 45 balls and Shreyas Iyer hit 86 off 192 balls.

Their innings finished with 404 runs in 133.5 overs. In response, the home team was bundled out for only 150 runs in 55.5 overs. Kuldeep Yadav made an impressive comeback, taking five wickets for 40 runs in 16 overs.

Team India had a 254-run lead and the opportunity to enforce the follow-on. However, they decided to bat once more. India declared after scoring 258 runs for two wickets in their second innings. Shubman Gill scored his first Test century (110 runs off 152 balls), while Pujara ended his century drought with 102* off 130 balls.

India set a target of 513 runs for the home team. Bangladesh, on the other hand, fought valiantly. Team India easily won the match, bowling them out for 324 runs in 113.2 overs. The batters showed great grit to start with. Najmul Hossain Shanto (67 runs) and Zakir Hasan put on a great partnership of 124 runs, with the latter completing his century. Shakib Al Hasan (84) also played a good knock, but day five saw early wickets to restrict Bangladesh to a score of 324 runs.

The Men in Blue won the series opener by 188 runs and led the series 1-0 with one match remaining. For his overall performance, Kuldeep Yadav was named player of the match.
