Indian T20 League is considered as the biggest T20 league in the world. In this auction, all the franchisees tried to strengthen their teams by include the best players in their teams. Meanwhile, Manish Pandey was sold to Delhi for 2.4 crores in the Indian T20 League 2023 mini-auction, which has raised some eyebrows. Pandey’s base price was set at Rs 1 crore and he saw Bangalore and Delhi bid for him. Eventually, it was Delhi, who made the winning bid of Rs 2.4 crore.
Pandey, who has represented the Indian Cricket Team, was released by Lucknow before the auction. Due to this, he (Manish Pandey) registered his name for the mini-auction of the upcoming season in 2023 with a base price of 1 crore.
Can Delhi utilize the experience of Manish Pandey?
It does not take long for the demand of a player to alter, and Pandey has had to learn it the hard way. Having started his cash-rich league career with Mumbai back in 2008, he played his best cricket during his Kolkata-based franchise days from 2014 to 2017.
Pandey has played more than 150 matches in the cash-rich league. His experience can prove to be useful for Delhi in the upcoming season. 33-year-old Pandey has played a total of 160 matches in the tournament so far, in which he has scored 3648 runs batting at an average of 29.9.
During this period, 1 century and 21 half-centuries have also been seen with his bat. Along with explosive batting, Pandey also knows very well how to rotate the strike by pushing the ball into the gap.
Manish has so far represented Bangalore, Pune, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Lucknow in the Indian T20 League. However, Delhi is going to be his sixth league franchise.
