On Saturday, the second match of the current ODI series between Bangladesh and Afghanistan will be played in Chittagong. Afghan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz has lit his bat on fire in this thrilling contest. He smashed a brilliant century while opening the innings.
Afghanistan is now in a great position in the ODI series, having won the opening game in a spectacular way. Choosing to bat first, the visitors did an excellent job of restricting Bangladesh to a modest total. It’s also worth noting that rain interfered with numerous phases of the game, forcing it to be cut significantly.
Afghanistan sets a target of 332
Rahmanullah Gurbaz hit a superb century against Bangladesh in the second One-Day International in Chattogram. Afghanistan’s wicket-keeper batsman hit his fourth ODI century and his second against Bangladesh. Gurbaz’s 145 from 125 deliveries included 13 fours and eight maximums.
Afghanistan got off to a great start thanks to Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran. The two starters combined for 256 runs. The openers have cobbled together Afghanistan’s highest-ever opening partnership in ODIs. While Gurbaz achieved his century, Ibrahim hit a fifty. The combination has enabled Afghanistan to compile a massive total, putting pressure back on Bangladesh.
Afghanistan put up an excellent target of 332, but they may be dissatisfied because they had the ability to reach 370-380. Despite losing the toss and being put into bat, Gurbaz and Zadran established a solid foundation for their side.
Mustafizur Rahman, Shakib Al Hasan, Hasan Mahmud, and Mehidy Hasan each grabbed two wickets, while Ebadot Hossain claimed the lone wicket of Rahmat Shah before hobbling off with a niggle. Bangladesh will have their job cut out for them in chasing this down because 332 has never been pursued previously at this site.
Soon after, the visitors’ middle order collapsed unable to maintain the momentum established by the openers. Afghanistan is now in a great position in the ODI series, having won the opening game in a spectacular way. Bangladesh still has a lot of work to do to equalise the series.
Here’s how fans reacted
Rahmanullah Gurbaz is a talented cricketer. Just he needs to do is to add stability and some defense in his innings. Look at Fakhar Zaman. At first he just went to crease and play a rash shot and got out. Then he added some 40% of defense in his play and he is consistent in ODIs
