KL Rahul hit a brilliant century on his comeback against Pakistan in the Super 4 match at Colombo. It was his first match back for India after a months-long injury break. Rahul took 60 balls to reach the 50-run mark on Day 2 of the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4s game between India and Pakistan.

From there, he changed his gear and took just 40 balls to score his next 50 runs. Rahul celebrated the century with a hug from his batting partner Virat Kohli. This is Rahul's first match for India since his return to competitive cricket this month. He suffered a thigh injury during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

KL Rahul and Virat Kohli lead India to a big score

KL Rahul and Virat Kohli came into bat when India lost two quick wickets after a fiery start from their openers. Rahul proved his critics wrong as he was aggressive against the Pakistan bowling attack after resuming his innings on the Reserve Day on 14 runs.

They stitched a 233-run partnership off 195 balls, for the 3rd wicket as both the batters accelerated even as rain threats were kept in mind after a delayed start to the Reserve Day due to gloomy weather in Colombo. He became only the 5th Indian batter to hit a hundred against Pakistan in the men's Asia Cup tournament. He joined an elite list of batters, including Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Shikhar Dhawan, and Rohit Sharma.

The Bengaluru-born batter was unbeaten with the score of 111 runs off 102 balls hitting 12 fours and two sixes, along with the former India captain. Kohli also scored his 47th ODI century and became the fastest batter to score 13,000 runs in ODI cricket. He was also unbeaten at the end 122 runs off 94 balls, with 9 fours and 3 sixes.

Rahul made full use of the opportunity, proving his readiness to be part of India's World Cup campaign later this year. It was a classy knock from both the batters. India has set a mammoth target of 357 runs for Pakistan.
