Mazaplay.net bags title sponsorship for Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2022

Lanka Premier League is all set to begin on 6 December 2022.

The third edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) is going to begin on 6 December 2022. The tournament will run until 23 December 2022. Earlier on On 17 July 2022, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board announced the postponement of this league due to the economic crisis in the country. They were having issues in conducting that tournament properly at that time.

But, now, Mazaplay.net has bagged the title sponsorship for Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2022. Mazaplay.net is an online sports news platform that provides unique sports news, cricket news, rankings, and much more. Recently, they also bagged the associated sponsorship for the limited over series between India and New Zealand. Even, they are also the title sponsor for the ongoing Desert Cup T20I Series 2022.

Defending champion Jaffna Kings will play the tournament opener against Galle Gladiators in Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2022

Speaking of the tournament, defending champion Jaffna Kings will play the tournament opener against Galle Gladiators. Before this edition of the Lanka Premier League, a total of 353 players got drafted also among the five teams. Among these players, 180 were foreign players while 173 were Sri Lankans. The draft got conducted in 20 rounds where players were considered from different categories. 

Several categories were ‘International Ruby,’ ‘International Sapphire,’ ‘International Diamond ‘A,’ ‘B,’ and ‘International Platinum’. Jaffna Kings, formerly the Stallions, were champions in the two previous seasons. The other four teams are Galle Gladiators, Colombo Stars, Kandy Falcons, and Dambulla Giants. However, this tournament will be a good addition for the Sri Lankan players ahead of the World Cup in 2023.

Lanka Premier League’s official promoter, the IPG Group confirmed the rescheduling news on Twitter on 9 August 2022.  The IPG Group wrote in a caption: “IT’S OFFICIAL, The Lanka Premier League is to be held from the 6th of December till the 23rd of December, 2022! #LPL #Cricket #IPGSports.” Speaking about it, the Lanka Premier League tournament organizer, Samantha Dodanwela spoke to the media. He said: “It’s my pleasure to announce that the LPL will be held from 6th to 23rd December.”
