Discarded India pacer, Bhuvneshwar Kumar won a UP Premier League 2023 game against Kashi Rudras on September 6. In the game between Noida Super Kings and Kashi Rudras in Kanpur, the Super Kings won the toss and bowled first. They had a good start as Kunal Tyagi cleaned up Karan Sharma (Lucknow Super Giants). At 10/1, the likes of Shiva Singh and Shivam Bansal put together 61 runs for the second wicket.

Both players scored 30-plus each. Prince Yadav hit 50 off just 32 balls including three sixes and as many fours. This inning and the efforts of Singh and Bansal helped the team reach 165/7. For the Kings, Bhuvneshwar took two wickets while Tyagi, Saurabh Kumar, and Prashant Veer took one each. In reply, the Yellow Brigade had a poor start as they lost two wickets for 10 runs.

At this stage, skipper Nitish Rana and Almas Shaukat put together 62 runs for the third wicket. The latter kept a good scoring rate while Rana played steadily. Prashant Veer hit an unbeaten 38 off 17 balls including four sixes and a four and helped the team eventually level the scores. For the Rudras, Atal-Bihari Rai (whose name is similar to former India PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee) took four wickets in the game. Meanwhile, the game went into a Super Over.

Rai, who took four wickets in the main game, bowled the one-over eliminator. However, Rana and Osho Mohan belted 19 runs in the crucial over. In reply, the Champions Trophy 2013 winner conceded only 11 runs including a six to win the game for his team by eight runs.

Meanwhile, the right-arm bowler has been left out of the ODI World Cup 2023 squad. He last played for India in the T20 World Cup 2022.
