Chennai Super Kings (CSK) clashed against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 24th match of the Indian Premier League 2023 on Monday, April 18 at the M Chnnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.  The MS Dhoni-led team manage to defeat RCB by 8 runs in a nail-biting contest.

Meanwhile, a video during the match is getting viral on social media. In the video, Dhoni was seen shadow-practicing before entering the pitch. CSK’s fast bowler Deepak Chahar was sitting near him and as the bat swung past Chahar's head, Dhoni, who was entirely focused on his practice, failed to notice that Chahar was sitting there. Chahar was startled and promptly got up from his seat and left as Dhoni showed no signs of being shaken.

Talking about the match, RCB won the toss and opted to bowl first. Batting first, CSK lost Ruturaj Gaikwad early, but there was no looking back after that as Ajinkya Rahane attacked them right from the time he entered the pitch, and got the momentum back in CSK’s favor. Devon Conway didn’t waste any time either as he looked in sublime touch right from the start of the match.

Along with Rahane, he had a lovely partnership, and once Rahane departed, Shivam Dube continued the attack. Dube hit a few of the biggest sixes of the evening, as he notched up a brisk fifty. Conway had a chance to notch up a century but Harshal Patel got him out with a yorker. Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja struck a few lusty blows towards the end and helped CSK post the second-highest total of the season 226 runs.

Chasing the target, RCB had a horrible start as they lost their first two wickets inside the powerplay. At 15/2, Faf du Plessis was joined by Glenn Maxwell and the two overseas RCB batters decided to take the attack to the CSK bowlers. The match-ups were ridiculed as Maxwell and du Plessis forged a 126-run stand for the third wicket and both were breathing fire from their bat. However, after their departures, no other batter was able to chase the target as they fell short of 8 runs in the end.
