Arshdeep Singh, the star bowler for Team India, started his County career with Kent earlier this week. He claimed his first wicket in the competition early in the match against Surrey. One of Arshdeep's best wickets in the game thus far occurred in the second innings when he castled a dangerous Jamie Smith. Arshdeep picked up two wickets in the first innings, allowing 43 runs in 14.2 overs.

On Day 3 of the contest, Smith put on an astonishing exhibition of power-hitting by smashing a century off just 70 deliveries while chasing a massive score of 501. When Arshdeep bowled from behind the wicket and castled the batter's defense with a peach of a delivery, Smith was batting at 114.

After Day 3, Surrey had a score of 263/3, which left them in a fairly comfortable position because they still needed 238 runs to win at Canterbury's St. Lawrence Ground. The first two days of the match between Kent and Surrey saw Kent dominate; they scored 301 in the first innings and then bowled Surrey out for just 145. Arshdeep also caught Australia's Daniel Worrall (12) in addition to Foakes.

‘Why Kent? A lot of this goes to Rahul Dravid’ – Arshdeep Singh

Kent came back to bat and scored 344 runs, passing 300 for the second time. Arshdeep also contributed with the bat, scoring two fours while batting at position 11 and remaining unbeaten on 12 off 11 deliveries.  Rahul Dravid, the head coach of India, was a major factor in Arshdeep's decision to transfer to Kent, according to Arshdeep.

"Feeling happy and excited to be here, to be a part of such a great franchise. It is a great county with a rich history as I have been told by people back home. It feels like home. It is just colder than home," said Arshdeep in a video posted by the club ahead of the match.

"Why Kent? A lot of this goes to Rahul Dravid, he told me about the history of this club and that he represented this club as well. I want to play because of that as well, he has inspired a lot of youngsters back home. This inspired me to join Kent as well," added the young pacer.
