Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by an inning and 222 runs to win the second Test and claim the series at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. Electing to bat first the hosts were bowled out for 166 in the first innings. With spinner Abrar Ahmed being the pick of the bowlers for the visitors picking up 4 wickets.

In response Abdullah Shafique's fantastic double hundred, with Agha Salman's quick 132 not out saw Pakistan post a total of 576/5d, with a massive lead of 410. Sri Lanka started well while trailing by a huge margin but they were never in the game after the openers were dismissed.

Noman Ali shines as Pakistan white-wash Sri Lanka

Dimuth Karunaratne and Nishan Madhushka scored 69 runs in their opening stand. The left-hander scored 41, while the batter made 33 runs. Sri Lanka shattered after these two were dismissed. Noman Ali was unstoppable, tearing through the Lankan batting lineup.

They lost five wickets in the space of 50 runs. Angelo Mathews provided some fight at the end with his 63 runs off 127 balls, but apart from him, neither batter could do much. The hosts barely managed to reach 188 before being wrapped away by Pakistani bowlers.

Naseem Shah took three and Noman Ali took seven wickets. It appeared at one point that Noman might have a 10-fer in the Test match, but it was not to be. Nonetheless, the Pakistanis have produced a great bowling performance. They won the series 2-0.

Babar Azam stated, "Very proud to win this series and all credit to guys and the support staff for working so hard in the last 3-4 months. Everyone stepped up and showed hunger to win this series. To be honest we haven't ticked all the boxes, but we are working on our batting and fielding. The way our bowlers bowled here was good because there wasn't much and especially today to put pressure on them."

"It's a team game, but we've had outstanding innings in both Test matches from Saudi, Salman, Abdullah Shafique. We're looking series by series in the coming games and will try to perform well. Being aggressive was part of the plan, it's something we had discussed before coming here. We wanted to play positive cricket. So all the credit to the boys. It's not easy to play spin here but they played very well."
