Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh had a disastrous start in the second T20I against Sri Lanka in Pune on Thursday and made an embarrassing record in international cricket. Arshdeep came for the second over of the innings, and his first five balls were legal deliveries. But before bowling the last ball, he bowled 3 back-to-back no balls. After this, he also bowled two no-balls in the 19th over.

Arshdeep now became the bowler with the most number of no balls in T20 International. In his career of 23 T20 International matches, he has bowled 14 no-balls. In this case, he left behind Hasan Ali of Pakistan, Keemo Paul of the West Indies, and Oshane Thomas. These three players have bowled 11 no-balls each in their careers.

Arshdeep became the first Indian bowler to bowl three consecutive no-balls in an over. He gave away 37 runs in his two overs. He bowled a total of five no-balls in this match, the most by any bowler in a match, equaling Keemo. Arshdeep was not a part of the first T20 match due to illness. In the second match, he returned to the playing XI in place of Harshal Patel.

Brilliant comeback by the Sri Lankan team

Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav and Axar Patel's efforts went in vain as Sri Lanka defeated India by 16 runs in the second T20I in Pune. With this outcome, the three-match series is now squared at 1-1. Chasing 207, India got off to a dreadful start losing the top order inside the powerplay overs. Suryakumar and Axar stitched a 90-plus stand before Surya was dismissed for 51 (36). Axar was dismissed for 65 (31) in the final over.

Earlier Kusal Mendis and Dasun Shanaka smashed 50 each to drive Sri Lanka to a staggering total in 20 overs. Mendis smashed a 27-ball 50.  While Shanka finished unbeaten on 56 off 22 balls. The match started with SL getting off to a flying start with openers adding 80 runs for the opening wicket in 8.2 overs. Shortly after his dismissal Sri Lanka kept losing wickets at regular intervals before skipper Shanaka took charge and smashed a 20-ball half-century.
