The 2023 ODI World Cup is almost a fortnight away from its start and fans are excited to witness another thrilling edition of cricket's biggest spectacle. The quadrennial event is returning to India after 12 years and for the same reason, the Men in Blue are considered favourites to win the tournament. The last time India hosted the premier 50-over tournament, they stormed to victory and claimed their second trophy.
Rohit Sharm and Co. are currently the World's No. 1 ODI side after their five-wicket win against Australia in the first ODI of the ongoing three-match series. With the kind of form they are in, they are likely to claim the series and enter the upcoming World Cup as the top-ranked team. Notably, all their key players including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav are back to their best form.
The World Cup will kick off with a cracking encounter between previous edition finalists England and New Zealand on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Meanwhile, the home team will begin their campaign against five-time world champions Australia on October 8 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Their second match is against Afghanistan on October 11, followed by a blockbuster clash against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 14.
