Fan invades pitch

India is currently playing against Australia in the final of the ODI World Cup 2023. Rohit Sharma's side, after being invited to bat first, got off to an explosive start, with the skipper setting the tone for his side. Shubamn Gill was the first to be dismissed for four runs off seven balls. The incident occurred in the 14th over when a fan managed to get past the security perimeter and onto the field.

The fan appeared in a "Stop Bombing Palestine" t-shirt and was holding a Palestine flag. His face mask even featured the Palestine flag on it. The fan managed to reach the pitch and hug Virat Kohli. The invader was taken to the police station after he breached and went inside the ground.

India was in trouble after a good start, with Rohit and Shreyas Iyer going back to the dugout in two consecutive overs. The skipper scored 47 runs and was looking in good touch. Virat Kohli and Kl Rahul later stabilised the innings, and each scored their fifty and looked in good touch before eventually being dismissed. The Aussies have bowled brilliantly in the final and looked in good rhythm.

Australia looking in control against India

The Aussie pacers have looked in good rhythm as they dismissed three batters of India inside the first ten overs. The Men in Yellow kept the innings in control as they kept taking wickets at regular intervals and also conserved the number of boundaries they conceded. The home side will also look to do well with the ball in hand to stand a fair chance to lift the trophy.

In the pre-match conference, Rohit Sharma said, "It’s quite contrasting in how he played his cricket and how I play my cricket and to agree on certain things, to give us that liberty, that says a lot about him. What he has done for Indian cricket is massive and he also wants to be part of this occasion. Let’s do it for him!”
