The Indian Cricket Team beat Sri Lanka by 302 runs in Mumbai on Thursday. On the back of this win the Indian team reached the semi-finals of the ODI World Cup 2023. Rohit Sharma and his team became the first entrants in the next stage of the tournament
Apart from his captaincy, the Indian skipper has won the hearts of Indian fans on social media. A short video clip of Rohit Sharma and his heartfelt gesture towards a very young Indian cricket fan has done the rounds.
It was a party mood in Mumbai as the Indian seamers rolled over the Sri Lankans to bundle them out for 55. For the third time in 2023, the Indian team had handed a crushing loss to the Sri Lankan team.
Rohit Sharma: The man with a pure heart –
There was a huge crowd making their way near the stairs for the players to make their way to the dressing room. The biggest cheer of the day was reserved for Rohit Sharma who was seen walking up the steps.
The Indian skipper stopped got hold of his match shoe and passed it to a young fan in the crowd. Seeing Rohit Sharma do this for his fans there was a huge roar from the crowd who loved the gesture from the 36-year-old.

Sri Lanka could only score 55 runs while chasing the 358-run target set by the Indian team on Thursday. Mohammed Shami picked his 2nd ODI World Cup 2023 fifer in just his third game. The 33-year-old ended with figures of 5/18 which is also his career-best for India in the ODI format.
Kasun Rajitha was the top scorer for Sri Lanka with 14 runs while Maheesh Theekshana and Angelo Mathews scored 12 runs each. Earlier Mohammed Siraj ran through the Lankan top order to end with figures of 3/16 from his 7 overs.
Earlier in the day despite losing Rohit Sharma for just four the Indians managed to post 357 runs on the board. Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli added 189 runs for the 2nd wicket to put the Indian team back in the game.
Gill was the top scorer with 92 runs while Virat Kohli scored 88 runs. Shreyas Iyer shrugged his poor form off and scored 82 runs from 56 balls with 3 fours and 6 sixes. Iyer hit the biggest six of the ODI World Cup 2023 which went 106 meters.
