Australia beat England by 33 runs in the ODI World Cup 2023, at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The Aussies have almost cemented their semi-final place with two matches still in hand. Pat Cummins's side were invited to bat first. The Aussie lost their openers Travis Head and David Warner early on in the innings. The five-time world champions made two forced changes to their side with Cameron Green and Marcus Stoinis coming back to the squad. 

Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne stitched a partnership after two quick wickets they made a 75 stand for the third wicket before the former was dismissed by Adil Rashid. Then some important runs from Green and Stoinis made sure they scored past 250 and Adam Zampa's contribution towards the end helped them to score 286 runs. 

The Aussies have won all their matches since their first two losses. They are currently at the number 3 with 10 points and have a run rate of +0.924. They play Afghanistan and Bangladesh in their last two games. 

England out of the World Cup

Head and Warner were dismissed by Chris Woakes. The former scored 11 runs and Warner was back in the dugout after 15 runs. Smith who struggled to find his form in the tournament was looking in good touch but he could not reach his fifty and was back to the pavilion after scoring 44 runs. Labuschagne was the highest scorer for his side as he scored 71 runs. Green and Stoinis stitched a decent 45-run stand. The former scored 47 runs and the latter was out on 35 runs. But Zampa's 29 runs off 19 balls at the end helped them score a defendable 286 runs. 

In response, England lost their opener Jonny Bairstow in the first ball and then Joe Root was also dismissed on 13 runs But Dawid Malan and Ben Stokes re-built the innings with an 84-run partnership. Malan was out after scoring his fifty and Stokes departed after a 90-ball 64. After that wickets kept on falling at regular intervals. Some fights in the lower order by Ali, Woakes, and Rashid helped them only score 253 runs.
