Australia beat India by 6 wickets in the final of the ODI World Cup 2023, at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. After being put into bat first they could only score 240 runs in their 50 overs, with only two batters scoring half-centuries. The Aussie bowling attack did their homework brilliantly and bowled according to that plan and strategy. Pat Cummins and Adam Zampa bowled brilliantly in the middle overs and not leak the singles and made it tough for their opponents to score runs.
This is the first time in the competition that the Men in Blue have been bowled out. Mitchell Starc dismissed opener Shubman Gill for 4 runs as the batsman mistimed his delivery and offered a catch at mid-on. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul both got half-centuries as the batters held the innings for some time after being reduced to 81/3. The quick wickets of Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer were back in the pavilion in two consecutive overs.
Zampa and Cummins were economical in their spells, letting only 22 runs in 12-17 overs and not allowing easy runs to be scored. India kept on losing wickets in pressure and posted a low target of 241 runs.
Travis Head scores big on final
Rohit Sharma gave India a good start as the batter scored 47 runs in 31 balls. Kohli will be the highest run scorer with 765 runs at an average of 95.63, including six fifties and three centuries. The former India skipper scored 54 runs and Rahul scored 66 runs. Except for these three batters, no other players could score past 30 runs.
In reply, Indian pacers gave them a brilliant start with Jasprit Bumrah picking two quick wickets leading them 47/3. But Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head stitched a partnership of 198 runs. Head has been the explosive between both of them. The left-handed opener scored a hundred in the final. The former played a supportive role with 58 runs off 110 balls. They finished the game with seven overs remaining.
Here's how fans reacted:
The reason for me to lose is Rohit's wrong shot, which was not necessary. Even though there was no need, after that, the run rate that needed to be maintained in 10-20 overs allowed Australia to take control. The run rate went from 8 to 5, and it continued like that. Seriously,…

No one has ever received anything more than destiny. After winning eleven matches, India had perhaps forgotten the taste of defeat. Got it today.

No problem. Someday we win, someday we lose. It's not a big deal. Your team fought well.
