'Waah kya match tha'- Fans react as Australia beat New Zealand by 5 runs in ODI World Cup 2023

Australia beat New Zealand by 5 runs in the ODI World Cup 2023 at the HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala on Saturday. New Zealand won the toss and elected to field first. The Aussie opener Travis Head made a comeback to the side. Along with David Warner, the former gave the five-time champions a fiery start. As they were smacking the Kiwi bowlers all around the park. They scored 100 runs stand in just 8.5 overs. 

Head scored his first hundred in the ODI World Cup 2023. He showed the class and explosive batting in the match. They made a first-wicket partnership of 175 runs. Glenn Phillips was the star bowler he picked up three wickets in his spell. No other bowlers were successful against the explosive Aussie openers. 

Glenn Maxwell and Pat Cummins scored some vital runs at the end of the innings to score past 350 runs. New Zealand bowlers were not up to the mark and leaked runs the fielding has been decent and has dropped some catches which proved costly at the end. 

Australia wins a thriller in Dharamsala

Australia opener Warner and Head gave them a fiery start. Warner scored 81 runs and Head scored 109 runs. They stitched a partnership of 175 runs for the first wicket. Australia were looking dangerous as they scored 118 runs in the first 10 overs. But the failure of the middle order restricted them from scoring past 400. In the end, Maxwell's 41 off 24 and Cummins's 37 off 14 balls lead them to score 388 runs.

In response, Kiwi openers Will Young and Devon Conway gave them a good start. They lost both the openers in quick succession. But Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell once again built the innings the latter was dismissed after scoring 54 runs. On the other hand, Rachin brought up his second hundred in the tournament. He was dismissed after scoring 116 runs off 89 balls. Jimmy Neesham played a sensational knock of 58 runs off 38 deliveries but he could not take his team through as he was run out at the last.
