Pat Cummins’s side showed a great bowling display.

Sri Lanka skipper Kusal Mendis and elected to bat. His decision was correct with the team as openers Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera stitched a partnership of 125 runs for the first wicket. Their middle order collapsed as batters had no answer to Adam Zampa’s spin. Charith Aslanka scored some runs in the end and Sri Lanka scored 209. This is the first win for the five-time champions.

The Lankans have a lot of problems as they are missing their regular skipper Dasun Shanaka who has been ruled out of the marquee tournament due to a quadriceps tear in the last match, against Pakistan. This is a big blow as they already are missing Wanindu Hasaranga and Dusmantha Chameera.
