England beat Bangladesh by 137 runs.

England beat Bangladesh by a huge margin of 137 runs at the HPCA Stadium, Dharamshala on Tuesday. The defending champions get back to their winning ways after they lost their first encounter against New Zealand in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Jos Buttler's side performed superbly in their second match giving no chance to the Bangla Tigers in the game. Dawid Malan scored a brilliant century as he became the oldest player for England to score a century in the World Cup. 

England after being invited to bat first got the best possible start. Openers Jonny Bairstow and Dawid Malan were off to a fiery start as the batters scored 100 run partnership in just 93 balls. Bairstow was the first to be dismissed by Shakib Al Hasan after scoring 52 runs. Malan went on to smack the bowlers all around the park. He scored 140 runs off 107 balls.

Joe Root has added another remarkable achievement. The right-handed hitter is currently England's all-time leading ODI World Cup run-scorer. Root has 82 runs from 68 deliveries. He shared a 151-run partnership with Malan. It only took him 19 innings to break his own record. In 19 ODI World Cup games, he has scored 917 runs. The middle and lower orders contributed with some runs and they posted a total of 364/9. 

England cruise past Bangladesh 

After posting a total of 364 runs for Bangladesh. England bowlers performed superbly and defended the target. Bangladesh did not get the start to chase the target and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Litton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim were the only players who scored half-centuries. With Litton scoring 76 runs and the latter scored 51 runs.  

Towhid Hridoy scored some runs at the end and Bangladesh was bowled out for 227. Malan was the named the man of the match and he said, "It is nice to contribute. Been a long journey to get to this stage. To get in here is fantastic and to put in a performance and win a game is great. [Struggles against spin] I think sometimes people create a narrative that isn't there to justify their own writing or views. Sometimes I play a good shot, sometimes I play a bad host. We don't have to second guess ourselves. I am not here to prove a point or prove to people."
