England vs Sri Lanka is currently underway, in the ODI World Cup 2023. England won the toss and elected to bat first. The English openers Jonny Bairstow and Dawid Malan gave them the best start and were looking in good touch. The defending champions made three changes with Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone, and Chris Woakes coming in place of Harry Brook, Reece Topley, and Gus Atkinson. Nothing changed the fortune for the 2019 champions as they were bowled out under 200 runs.

They were 45/1 when Malan went back to the pavilion. After that wickets continued to fall and they never came back in the game. They were bowled out for 156 runs at a good batting pitch in M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Lahiru Kumara made a good comeback and picked up 3 wickets giving 35 runs. English batter could not pick Maheesh Theekshana and was troubled by him.

Angelo Mathews the veteran all-rounder who made a comeback to the ODI squad picked two wickets in five overs giving out 14 runs. This is also the lowest score a team has been bowled out for at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. It's the lowest total against Sri Lanka in the competition. Ben Stokes was the highest run scorer for the Three Lions, he scored 43 runs off 73 balls.

I honestly can't say one of them is in nick at the moment: Nasser Hussain

Former English skipper Nasser Hussain has lashed out at England as he believes none of the batters looked in good touch and lacked in rhythm. Speaking on Sky Sports he said, "The problem is with England, I look at their batters and I honestly can't say one of them is in nick at the moment."

"Maybe occupy the crease for a while and form will come. There's no rhythm and no fluency to their batting and this is the gun line-up they've had for some time now."

England has defended a low-scoring total against the 2011 World Cup when they defended 171 runs. It is a must-win game for both sides. Jos Buttler's side would like to defend the total.
