Virat Kohli and KL Rahul made sure they stayed in the crease. They played under pressure and took India over the line. Kohli scored 85 runs off 116 balls and Rahul on the other hand scored 97 runs off 115 balls.

India beat Australia by six wickets

India beat Australia by six wickets at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Batting first, the five-time World champions were bowled out for 199 runs. Jasprit Bumrah gave India the best possible start as he dismissed opener Mitchell Marsh for a duck. India came into this match with three spinners in a relatively slow pitch in Chennai. David Warner and Steve Smith stitched a 69-run partnership of 85 balls. After these two batters were back in the pavilion no other batter scored above 30. 

Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Kuldeep Yadav webbed the Australian batters. Jadeja dismissed Smith with an unplayable delivery, and Kuldeep picked up the dangerous Warner. Leaving the Kangaroos on the backfoot they were struggling at 140/7 when Cameron Green was dismissed by Ashwin. The three spinners picked 6 out of their 10 wickets. Bumrah picked two wickets and Siraj and Hardik picked one wicket each. 

In reply, Australian pacers created havoc in Chennai. Three India batters returned to the pavilion without scoring. India was reduced to 2/3. Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazelwood gave Australia a dream start in a low-scoring total in the first match of the World Cup. Skipper Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Shreyas Iyer were the batters who were dismissed inside two overs.

Virat Kohli and KL Rahul made sure they stayed in the crease. They played under pressure and took India over the line. India were in trouble when both the batter came into bat played proper cricketing shots and rotated the strike in the middle overs so that the scoreboard kept on ticking. 

Kohli again stood up against the Aussies in a big match and showed his class why he is the best batter when it comes to chasing the inning. He was dismissed for 85 runs off 116 balls but he made sure along with KL Rahul that India was in a comfortable position to win the game. Rahul was unbeaten till the end for 97 runs and finished the match in style with a six. This was a big win for India against the mighty Aussies.
