India beat England by 100 runs in the ODI World Cup 2023 at the Ekana Stadium, Lucknow. This is their sixth win in the tournament with their unbeaten record still intact in the mega tournament. England will stay at the last place in the points table in the tournament the defending champions did not play like their reputation in the tournament so far and this is their fifth loss in the tournament. England won the toss and elected to field first in a tricky wicket of Lucknow. Both sides were unchanged. This was Rohit Sharma's 100th international match as a skipper.
The Men in Blue got off to a decent start with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill scoring quick runs. But after Gill returned to the pavilion Chris Woakes and David Willey created the pressure and resulted in the wicket of Virat Kohli who departed without scoring. Skipper Rohit was the only batter who scored a half-century on a difficult wicket in Lucknow.
This is the first time India won a match batting first. The fiery bowling performances from Mohammed Shami, and Jasprit Bumrah did not let the batters settle in the wicket. England are out of the semi-final race contention after their loss against the two-time World Champions.
