Australia has been dealt with two major blows in a span of 24 hours ahead of the huge game versus England. After the concussion of Glenn Maxwell, it has come to light that Mitchell Marsh has flown back home to Australia for personal reasons.

The Australians are set to take on England in a key game on Saturday to be played in Ahmedabad. The win will create a bigger distance between Australia and the chasing pack for the 4th place in the table.

Pat Cummins and his side began the ODI World Cup 2023 with two losses to India and South Africa. The five-time World Cup winner has won four games in a row and played some outstanding cricket since then.

Mitchell Marsh setback for Australia –

32-year-old Australian star all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has flown back home to leave many Australian cricket fans in shock. This means that the free-scoring West Australian player will not be part of the game versus England in Ahmedabad on Saturday.

The Australian Cricket Body sent out a statement which read “Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has returned home the ODI World Cup 2023 late last night due to personal reasons. A timeline on his return to the squad is to be confirmed. No further detail will be offered at this time”

The loss of Mitchell Marsh from the game on Saturday means a return for Marcus Stoinis has been confirmed. Steve Smith is expected to move up the order and bat in the number three position for Australia.

In the six games Mitchell Marsh played during the ODI World Cup 2023, he has scored 225 runs with the bat. His best moment with the willow came during the match against Pakistan in Bengaluru. The right-handed batter scored a career-best 121 on his 32nd Birthday to give his side a huge win.

With the ball Marsh has picked just two wickets but it is his aggressive batting at the top that Pat Cummins will miss. Glenn Maxwell is also set to miss the game on Saturday in Ahmedabad due to a freak injury he suffered on a golf course. The Australian team and its fans hope that both Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell make it back in time for the final stages of the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament.
