The India vs Australia final of the ODI World Cup 2023 is currently underway at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. India, after being invited to bat first, got another good start as skipper Rohit Sharma gave the Men in Blue another solid platform. However, Shubman Gill went back to the pavilion after scoring four runs in seven balls.
The batter was dismissed by Mitchell Starc while playing a pull shot getting caught on mid-on. Gill is currently the No.1 ODI batter in the Men's Ranking. He has scored 4 fifties in the mega tournament so far. The Punjab-born batter has been in good form in the current year and is the only batter to score over 2000 runs in ODIs this year. He has scored five centuries and nine fifties in 2023.
India lost three wickets under 10 overs, with Rohit and Shreyas Iyer back in the dugout and are in deep trouble with Virat Kohli and KL Rahul at the crease. They will need to build a partnership in order to post a big total. Both of them did it in the first match against the same opponents at MA Chidambaram Stadium while chasing 200 runs. The fans would hope that these batters play till the end.
Rahul Dravid's role has been absolutely massive: Rohit Sharma
Rohit, at the pre-match conference, said, "Rahul Dravid's role has been absolutely massive, especially in terms of giving role clarity to players. It's quite contrasting in how he played his cricket and how I play my cricket and to agree on certain things, to give us that liberty, that says a lot about him. What he has done for Indian cricket is massive and he also wants to be part of this occasion. Let's do it for him!"
He further said, "Before the start of the World Cup. I had plans to play such kind of cricket. I didn't know whether it will work or not. With little freedom I wanted to express myself. During England game also I changed my approach and that is what senior players do. I changed my tactics."
